Time for the fun…Week 8 results, Week 9 schedule for double point position night
All first half matches are in the books or rendered as a 1-1. In the end, only a few matches had to go the 1-1 route. Some things that are rather remarkable as we look at the standings and stats:
One golfer is still undefeated (John Mooney at 7-0-1….thanks teammate!!)
Two golfers are winless with “Reginald” Denny Welch at 0-7-0 and Bob “Yeah Baby” Zaleski at 0-8-0. I’m sure we can all hear Bob yelling at his ball on the green right now….
Team in first isn’t really getting lucky in terms of opponents shooting poorly against them. They have three of the top six performing golfers vs. their quota (Dan Kane #1 at +12, Paul Daniels #5 at +6, Jon Carroll #6 at +4).
The team has a similar story - Not playing well. Two of the top four under performers are on this team (Prucha #2 at -19 vs. quota and Denny #4 at -18 vs. quota)
The league is not seeing a lot of close matches: There have been 50 matches that ended in a tie, 1-point win or 2-point win. There have been 74 3-point or more wins.
Lower flights in the league are struggling. Only four golfers have met their total quotas from the first half from Flights 3 and 4: Paul Daniels, Marty Donegan, John Mooney, Craig Hawkinson
As is the case with prior years, the league struggles out of the gate but is seeing steady improvement vs. quotas overall. In Week 2, the league was on average -2.1 vs. quota. In Week 8, the league was +1.5 vs. quota
